We invite you to check here often for the latest updates and pictures from our currently active construction sites. Currently, construction is finished at three BT schools, with another three expected to be completed by the end of the 2008-2009 school year.

Schools Under Construction:
BT Academy of Gita: Construction began October 14, 2008 on the BT Academy of Gita, both funded and designed by students at the University of Virginia. The Academy is slated to be finished by mid-2009.
BT Academy of Kiyamba: Construction started in May of 2008 on the BT Academy of Kiyamba, supported by the Butler chapter of Ambassadors for Children (AFC). Members of the AFC chapter traveled to Uganda in May to help with clearing the land and working on the foundations. The academy is slated to be finished by February 2009.
BT Academy supported by Notre Dame: BT is currently searching for a site for the upcoming school supported by the BT chapter at the University of Notre Dame. Check back here often for more construction updates!
General Updates:
14 October 2008: Construction began today on the Building Tomorrow Academy of Gita, supported by the University of Virginia. The 2800 square foot building was designed by 15 senior-level UVA architecture students through studio reCOVER.
06 October 2008: We opened the doors to our third academy, the Building Tomorrow Academy of Buwasa, a week ago today. One class of 25 students are currently enrolled and we plan to enroll over 200 at the start of the new school term in February 2009.
15 January 2008: We've been dealing with some slight delays as a result of the unrest in Kenya as vendors, particularly our roofing company is struggling to get raw materials from the port of Mombassa in to the country. Despite this setback, our Bembe site is being readied for the first day of school with finishing of the floors with hopes that roofing work will begin as soon as it is possible to do so. The community support in Buwasa has been fantastic, leading us to believe that it won't be long before Buwasa is ready for roofing too...
09 December 2007: The heavy rains that have been afflicting parts of Uganda since September have continued, making it, at times, impossible to reach our Buwasa construction site. The community though doesn't let a day go by without work being accomplished at the site, which is very encouraging. Bembe is at window-level and the head engineer at the site is happy with our overall progress.
