How exactly do volunteers and donors differentiate one non-profit organization from the next? We wondered, too – so here are a few statements from our BTers like you explaining why they are Building Tomorrow.
Jordann – “‘We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.’ – Winston Churchill. Every morning more than 38 million children in the U.S. wake up to attend primary school, while 41 million children in sub-Saharan Africa have no school to attend. Don’t pass up the opportunity to take a step to change this!”
Rachel – “The lack of opportunity for equal education is a pressing issue which needs to be addressed before it progresses. Many question the need to help other countries before resolving the challenges of our own nation. This is a reasonable concern, however, the numbers speak for themselves.”
Hannah – “I am Building Tomorrow because I appreciate my education and want to share it with the world! ‘Education then, beyond all other devices of human origin, is the great equalizer of the conditions of men, the balance-wheel of the social machinery.’ -Horace Mann”
Katie – “The kids have such potential, but that can only be realized if they get the education they need!”
Jenna – “Education leads children down a path to a better life. In Uganda that might mean more secure housing, clean water, or freedom from malaria, HIV/AIDS, and early pregnancy.”
Kelly – “We want to do our small part to ensure that more children have access to the education that every child deserves. We forget how lucky each of us is to have been able to go to school and learn about the world we live in. Everyone should have this same opportunity!”
Allison – “Providing a child with an education gives them confidence, skills and opportunity. Opportunity that allows them to seek a profession that will in turn better their life, community and world. ‘If you give a child a fish, they will eat for a day. If you teach them to fish, they will eat for a lifetime.'”
