On Friday, April 20th, the Building Tomorrow chapter at Hope College in Holland, MI Biked to Uganda and raised $4,023 towards a new BT academy in Uganda. Check it out!
My initial visions of a Building Tomorrow Chapter at Hope College began while visiting the BT Academies in Uganda last May 2011. One year later, I never thought BT at Hope would be $6,977 into realizing that dream. Our leadership team of eight energetic, faith-filled individuals met every Monday of the spring semester to organize Bike to Uganda. The event took place on April 20 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Pine Grove, a central location on campus. In the rainy, windy, and chilly conditions of Holland, MI, Bike to Uganda still went on with almost perfect attendance of our 140 bikers. Students, sports teams, friend groups, sororities, and even my French professor came out to bike and brought an incredible enthusiasm for the cause. The majority of our fundraising success came from donations of students biking or walking by the event on April 20. The student support was truly amazing and the possibilities for the future of BT efforts at Hope is exciting!
