Punch Burger, Weber Grill top the 2nd Annual Indy Burger Battle

Share

More than 350 attendees enjoyed plenty of burgers and beer under sunny skies this past Saturday at the Second Annual Indy Burger Battle benefiting Building Tomorrow. Participating restaurants included Weber Grill, Punch Burger, 96th Street Steakburger, Binkley’s Kitchen and Bar, Stacked Pickle, Between the Bun, Drakes, Colts Grille and the Sinking Ship. Thanks to all our restaurant partners, and to our generous sponsors Sullivan Hardware, Tow Yard Brewing Co., PNC Bank and The Rathskeller. A big thanks also to our incredible team of volunteers.

The burgers were anything but boring. Punch Burger was named People’s Choice with their Burnt Cheese Slamma Jamma, a burger topped with a crispy combination of cheddar and ghost pepper cheese. Weber Grill was named Critics’ Choice by our celebrity judges: Sara Croft, blogger and Indianapolis Star Recipe Contributor; Neal Brown, Owner of Pizzology and The Libertine Liquor Bar; Alex Tagliani, Indy Car Driver; and Bronte Tagliani, model and fashion blogger. Weber Grill’s winning burger was a blend of hickory smoked brisket and ground Angus beef topped with caramelized onions and spicy ground mustard sauce. Both winners are automatic qualifiers for the World Food Championship competition in Las Vegas.

Punch Burger will feature their winning Burnt Cheese Slamma Jamma as their “Burger of the Moment” for a limited time at their restaurant, and they’ll donate $1 for each one sold back to Building Tomorrow!
