Meet Elizebeth, aka ‘Betty’

Share

Being a college student about to embark on my Senior year, I get asked this question all the time, ‘What are you going to do?’ My answer, like many others my age… That’s a great question! When this infamous question is thrown at me while my Dad’s around, he always looks at me and says, “Taylor, I’m 55-years-old and I still don’t know what I want to do. Don’t worry about it, not everyone just knows.” While I’m not alone in my struggle, some out there simply just know the answer. Elizebeth just knows.

This soft-spoken 15-year-old is confident about what she is going to do with her life. She wants to take the knowledge from her schooling to become a nurse. Elizebeth became a Building Tomorrow student when she started attended the BT Academy of Lutisi. She has now continued on to her secondary education and looks to eventually study at a University. Elizebeth emphasized how much she appreciates her education through her multiple “Thank yous’!”.

Along with those thank yous, came some stern advice. “I advise them to respect their teachers and help their elders.” She explained her reasoning behind this advice, “My parents were so poor, that’s why I expect students in Building Tomorrow to read hard.” The sweet Elizebeth made it clear that she wanted the current BT Academy of Lutisi students to take their education seriously.

Elizebeth’s gratitude for her education and determination to achieve her goal of becoming a nurse is an inspiration. Not only will I continue to carry my Dad’s advice, but also now Elizebeth’s truly wonderful attitude. I hope to one day just know, like Elizebeth.
