We believe in the right to education.

We believe access to an inclusive, quality education is a basic human right and are committed to ensuring it is afforded to every child. We ensure this by galvanizing communities to support thriving schools in underserved areas.

What We Do
Building Tomorrow improves access to child-friendly, community-supported schools by providing an inclusive, quality education for underserved children in East Africa. We achieve this through our two main initiatives: School Construction and our Thriving Schools Program.
School Construction

31 Million.

That's the number of children in Sub-Saharan Africa who wake up every single day without a school to attend.

Building Tomorrow works hand-in-hand with local communities and the Ugandan government to construct new primary schools where no formal primary school exists. As of April 2018, our team, in partnership with communities in Uganda, has opened 62 primary schools, with six more schools currently under construction and three more in planning stages.

Thriving Schools Program
Only 21% of students in Uganda complete a full cycle of primary school and 85% of rural P3 students are unable to read, write, or do basic math at a P2 level.

Building Tomorrow trains and deploys Ugandan college graduates as Building Tomorrow Fellows, who work hand-in-hand with Community Education Volunteers to improve learning outcomes, build the capacity of school leadership, and galvanize communities in support of education. To date, Fellows have enrolled over 15,000 previously out-of-school children and vastly improved the quality of education in the schools they serve.

Educate51K
In 2014, in partnership with Educate a Child, Building Tomorrow launched Educate51k, our five-year plan to provide an inclusive, quality learning environment for 50,980 out-of-school children in hard-to-reach communities across Uganda. Educate51k unites Building Tomorrow’s two key programmatic focuses: access and quality, and leverages the support of a network of partners: the Ugandan Ministry of Education and Sports, more than 300 rural villages across Uganda, and an international community of donors.

Uneducate Yourself

Would you be “you,”
without a school?

To Uneducate Yourself is to meet a new you. A side of you that knows what it’s like to wake up in the morning and not have a school to go to. A side of you that doesn’t exist – because it hasn’t had to.

One hundred percent of what you donate will be combined with other funds to ensure access to an inclusive, quality education for children in East Africa.

CONSIDER A MONTHLY DONATION

One of the best ways to help our cause is by donating a small gift on a recurring basis. As little as $4 a month can make a huge impact in the life of a child in East Africa
